CROSSFIT KIDS/JR. VARSITY

CROSSFIT KIDS (5-9 years old)

Thursdays at 4:30-5:30pm

CrossFit Kids emphasizes quality movement through broad and inclusive activities which are designed to promote fun fitness. This program aims to provide kids with a chance to experience fitness and skill development in an engaging environment. Ultimately we want to establish a positive mindset around active lifestyles and healthy habits moving forward.

The CrossFit Kids program is dedicated to creating a program that has a positive impact on its athletes, empowering them to be the best version of themselves.

A typical CrossFit Kids class is laid out like this:

1. Group Warmup & team building game or activity

2. Learn a new skill and build on previous skills

3. WOD – Workout of the Day – typically an activity that includes the skills

4. Cool Down Game

We constantly have kids asking us if they can stay late and climb a rope or hang on a bar one more time. Parents have mentioned several times that their kids are excited for Thursday evenings, and that they have noticed an improvement in their confidence.

JUNIOR VARSITY CROSSFIT (10-15 years old)

Thursdays at 5:30-6:30

Junior Varsity (JV) prepares kids with well rounded athleticism. The programming mirrors the style in which a normal CrossFit class is run, focusing on strength, speed, power and flexibility. The kids learn about performance nutrition, and are encouraged to develop a mindset around being an ‘athlete for life,’ whether within CrossFit, another sport, or just a fitter individual. Ultimately we are looking to continue to establish healthy habits at a young age.

JV also serves to establish valuable lessons on hard work, resiliency, cooperation, and the benefits of stepping outside one’s comfort zone. CrossFit offers a unique dynamic of ‘collaborative competition’, because Kids are encouraged to cheer for one another. This teaches them trust and cohesion as well as accountability and confidence as a group of individuals.

Our aim is to provide them with an extensive skill set, coaching them to display excellence in most activities without specializing in any particular sport. More importantly, we want them to enjoy movement for the sake of movement.

A typical Junior Varsity class looks like this:

1. Team-based warmup

2. Skill & Strength development

3. WOD – Workout of the Day

4. Cool down activity and review
